Art to me is life and life is Art. They are one in the same.  Nature is a perfect example-colors of a sunset, the shape of a tree or the shadows of a flower are masterpieces and give me inspiration to produce art. When one has a certain perspective and way of seeing the world, art can infinitely surround them. This is why artists in general have a different way of “seeing” things, not just looking at them. Art is a universal language and can transcend earth, which is a spec in the grandness of everything.

Painting for me can make energy or ones essence visible. It can cause one to really feel the unseen, powerful side of Life, capturing that which surpasses everyday reality, which cannot be described by words alone. It is much more mysterious and omnipotent than that. I think that under everything that is seen lies a force invisible to the eye, just as thought is a very powerful thing. It creates ones experience in this world.

This is why I have recently been fascinated with abstract art. By looking at my work one could see that my earlier works are very figurative and progressively each piece becomes more abstract.  In the past I was primarily attracted to art that contained symbolism, but have now realized how abstract art can be just as meaningful and profound.  It can contain a certain rawness and energy, which takes you back to the very moment when a piece was made. Unlike a photo- a snapshot of a moment in time, abstract painting can really take you back to the exact moment. Lately I have been trying to paint without any precise planning or serious thought – letting the paint guide me, not the other way around. I find that painting can be more enjoyable and interesting for me this way. One brushstroke can convey so much movement and vigor. I may not always know exactly where a piece is going, but if I continue to paint through “mistakes”, the painting always comes out in the end, usually with many pleasant surprises along the way.  Painting is liberating, meditative and puts me in the present moment, in the now. It helps me be more aware of my connection to something greater than myself and I am very thankful to have it in my life.
