Collaboration art installation with Jessica Chaddock, and brother Jon Romero. New art will be unveiled and fun will be had by all. Art will be on display until October 2nd.
Jessica Chaddock and Jonny Romero are brother and sister originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Moving to Portland as teenagers, they became great friends as well as colleagues in their pursuit of creating art. They’ve always been inspired by one another even though they have two completely different styles of work. Jonny typically works with aerosol, acrylic and mixed media, influenced by graffiti, and while Jessica also works with acrylics, she’s been venturing more into the world of creating digital graphic design pieces influenced by Japanese culture as well as modern graphic design. For the first time ever they will be sharing their art with the "outside" world. This show will include acrylic, mixed media and aerosol paintings as well as graphic design prints.
“We’d like to thank our friends and family for having all these years supported us as artists and what we do. We also want to thank the Nightlight Lounge and it’s staff for giving us our first opportunity at considering ourselves real artists.” –Jonny & Jess
Jessica Chaddock:
Office monkey by day, freelance graphic designer, artist, mother and wife at night. I’ve been drawing, painting and designing for as long as I can remember. My illustrations and drawings are heavily influenced by Japanese pop art, anime, manga and my stupid older brother. The mediums I prefer to work in are acrylics, ink and pencil. For design, I’m a Photoshopper. I’m a self taught graphic designer and have done several commissioned logos and design work. I have no formal training in art or design, I just like to create the things that pop into my skull.
Jonny Romero:
I'm originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I've been in Portland since '94 and love living here. I've been drawing and painting since I discovered ketchup and mustard. My biggest influences in art have always been comic books and cartoons, along with my "pain in the butt little sister". I was introduced to graffiti later in high school, and instantly fell in love with the art form. It has been a big part of how I view the world since then. In recent years I've been using acrylics and experimenting with mixed media. One last thing, my girlfriend rules!
